Weight Loss.

I am waiting for a replacement hip, when I saw the surgeon in February he said he would do it but I need to lose two stone and get the water off my lower legs. Since then I have lost one stone six pounds. The stone came off easily, the rest has been a struggle with no loss some weeks. I'm due to see the surgeon again in three weeks and just can't get any more pounds off, any ideas, please? I've not exactly been calorie counting in earnest but know what to avoid, have drastically cut portion size and tried eating my main meal at lunchtime. The water on my legs is still with me despite various water tablets, I'm waiting for an appointment at heart failure clinic. I'm desperate to get my hip done.

Has this to do with having an anaesthetic? If so, perhaps they could do an epidural instead. Ask them when you go to the clinic.

Thanks for your replies. I have reduced carb intake which I'm sure helped to start with. I've been wearing compression stockings for over a year now at the suggestion from the ambulatory clinic. Old and confused, interested in the dry brushing, I had the lady in to do my feet and she was talking about something similar, it helps to drain the lymphatic system, I'll give it a go.All good suggestions.
Thank you again for the replies. I quite often don't feel like eating before lunch and get tokd I should eat a good breakfast so I'll go for LadyCGs suggestion.
Squad, yes, some heart failure. I have regular blood tests to check kidneys and, I discovered heart , had a call from a new dr saying something in my blood suggested heart failure, just slightly. Been referred to heart clinic but will have to wait months for an appointment. He said my blood tests had shown this for some time but nobody had picked it up. I have no other symptoms apart from odaema.

IMO, going back to the weight aspect, I'd not feel obliged to have a hearty breakfast if you don't feel like it, were I you. As the name suggests, it is to break your overnight fast. But from what I come across on the internet, fasts are supposed to be good for you. Just don't save eating all until near the end of the day. Maybe have a main meal lunchtime ?
Good luck with the rest of it.
Good luck with the rest of it.
Thanks for the good wishes, old geezer. I am trying having my meal in the middle of the day. I cook some nights for my menfolk as they work and then save my meal for the next lunchtime. At the moment that doesn't seem to be making any difference but we'll see. I saw a friend who I haven't seen for several months today and she could see I have lost weight which is encouraging.
