We have been adopted by a sweet little cat who speeds a lot of time in the garden. She has recently started scratching herself a lot and I'm pretty certain she has fleas as I have been bitten. We have tried a couple of things tablets in her food and Bob Martin spot on (which was a nightmare to apply) I have also given her a good brush and she is moulting a lot. I wondered if anyone has 'foolproof ' suggestions please

when you apply flea treatment it will unlikely kill all of the fleas mainly just the eggs and new born fleas so you need to comb the adult fleas off when the treatment makes them slow and drunk then kill them in a tissue
My vet gives me a prescription (around £15 now) and I get Advocate drops for back of the neck. It works out far cheaper than buying a pack at the vets. However my cat HATES the smell so may need two of you to apply it before fur baby runs away giving you a dirty look and hiding under the table …. But it works, worth paying that little bit more.

Hi roadman, I have a brush which she seems to like. Do you recommend any particular comb? I'm going to Pets at Home on Friday to get some bits and pieces

Thanks smurf. We've tried using that type of treatment but pinning her down is a nightmare and I reckon we're lucky if we manage to get half of it on her neck, and like you we get the dirty look. We'll persevere though
by the way i found the best way to kill a flea is to roll it in your fingers and then put your thumb nail through it in half
