hair colouring

i have mousey brown hair with blocks of blonde through it which i got done in the hairdressers. i now want to put a home dye that a deep cherry red colour, cause i havent got time to go back and get it done there do you think that it would be ok to put it in, of will my blonde colour turn pink, help!!

The bits of your hair that are dyed blonde will certainly be a lighter shade of red than the brown bits but providing you use a deep enough red, they shouln't go pink. Could actually be a really nice effect. If in doubt, i'd suggest checking with your hairdresser - providing you know and trust them enough that they won't tell you it'll be a disaster and you should go and have it done there of course!!!!

You could always try snipping a little of your hair (from an inconspicuous place) and doing a strand test

If you're wanting to use a permanent dye & want to cover up the highlights you could dye it twice. Will make your hair a bit dry if you do it twice in a row so you could dye it again after a few days and it should cover it completely. If you want them to 'shine through' they will look pink even if using a dark red as the blonde will still be showing through the red (they may just look a more 'wishy washy' red but unless you experiment you don't know how the porosity of your hair and the exsting colours are going to effect the dye you put on!). You could if you're patient, separate the blond 'blocks', wrap them in foil and then dye the rest of the hair separately so you can retain the blonde running through the cherry red colour.
