We're having our living room ceiling repaired (due to a leak from the upstairs loo) and have therefore taken down all the pictures on the wall. We're trying to clean the wallpaper behind them (which is over the radiator) and get off all the stains from the output from the radiator ... can anyone recommend a product which will clean off all the staining. There is also considerable staining on the wallpaper up the stairs ..... would be grateful for any recommendations, please.
A lot will depend on the type of wallpaper you have, chokkie and whether or not it will take some (harsh) treatment dependent upon the level of staining. I often use Flash spray with bleach to great effect, but you do have to be aware that runs in the cleaning liquid coming down the wall may produce an uneven marking all of their own. This can be avoided by working your way up from the bottom of the wall and drying with a cloth immediately to prevent runs occurring. I always apply the spray to a slightly damp sponge and work in small areas.
You're welcome chokkie. Choux, I used that Flash spray on my fitted wardrobes without realising and it's taken the colour out where it's run although I wiped it down immediately.
I hadn't used it before Choux so didn't really give it a thought, I sprayed it on and wiped it off, but not quickly enough obviously. It's really taken the colour out , good job they are cream and not a dark colour
Surely redecoration would be covered under the insurance repair. You cannot replaster a ceiling without affecting the adjoining walls. Besides if you need to clean the paper it surely must be time to redecorate anyway?
