I am trying to pronounce some Welsh words that have the 'll' in the such as Pontcysyllte - I have listened to many people in videos but I just can't form the sound.
Any tips?

Try saying Cathleen or pathlab over and over - let the "thl" bit run together - never mind trying to get tongue and teeth in right place - using an English word will stop you worrying about getting it right - once you've got the sound you can use it in Welsh words!

You are The Riddler and I claim my five pounds.
Or were you just being a niwsans Albanaidd? :))
My other half is Welsh. She reckons the way we things like "dreich" and "wheech" comes pretty close, especially with a wet "l" sound before the final consonant.

The "ch" in "loch" / "Auchtermuchty" is quite different.

Jim ... I have lived in Wales for 55 years and visited Cornwall, just about, annually since 1966. The Celtic language is still with us and needs preserving. My, and all my male ancestors middle names, are Welsh. Say hello to your Myfanwy and tell her not to let the hiraeth fade.

Patgret, the Kathleen and pathlab has certainly helped, thanks. I just have to isolate that sound and work it seamlessly in to the words now.

I think I'll crack it. Hurrah!
