British Passport

Can anybody tell me if the new passport contains the owners address?

I hope not or some people who move every couple of years eg renters or students will have to keep changing there passport

If I remember correctly the holder puts in their address and next of kin on receipt of passport

Thanks for the replies, I'm in dispute with my bank who wants proof of Identification. I offered my driving licence but they said it had to be like a passport. I pointed out that the licence gave name, address and photo whereas the passport didn't. I just wanted to check I was right.

When they say 'like a passport', what do they mean?

Hopkirk, I'm not sure what they meant, I'm returning today so I might get an answer. Last night I checked their website, it shows two lists of acceptable documents, List 1 ( proof of Identity) and list 2 (Proof of address). Both list a valid driving license so unless I've missed a new ruling that we now carry two different licenses, the local branch must accept a license as being proof of who we are. I always thought banks employed sensible people or at least knew the rules of the company they work for. I should have realised something was wrong when, after a long silence and the "colleague" tapping away on the keyboard, I heard " The computer is not doing what I want", an expression I've often heard which usually translates into " I don't know what I'm doing".

I have found recently that it should be a different piece of ID from each list.
For example list 1 passport, list 2 driving licence

Its to ensure that you are whom you claim you are.

Thank you for your answers. I returned to the bank with extra identification and was directed to a different person. When I explained I'd had the required paperwork according to their website the previous day,( the original letter and valid driving licence ), her eyes widened. She said that should have been sufficient. There was no further explanation or apology for wasting my time and having to do an extra 26 mile return journey. However she quickly sorted the problem so I'm grateful for that. The bank is Santander.
