I’ve often wondered about Rachel when she says “This one’s impossible.” How can she be so sure in less than a minute?

There are lots of websites and apps that can work these things out in milliseconds, though. Which also do tell you if it’s impossible.

I think anyone who is very good with numbers would know if the solution were impossible in a short time.
I believe she does genuinely work them out for herself

I have no doubt Rachel generally solves the Number rounds, sometimes she needs extra time to think, about and occasionally she gets help, hence the odd "thinking on her feet to get a convoluted solution". I am not suggesting she relies on tech or use it routinely.
