Went on line to get an explanation of how I would make and receive phone calls once it all goes digital. The article was hopeless as it presumed I understood the digital world, I don't ! now I'm even more confused, can anyone point me to an article that will explain it in terms a non digital person can understand.

To put it simply your existing phone will connect to your router, you may need an adapter that your phone company will provide.
Your number will stay the same.
Your phone will not work in a power cut but many phones don't when they are connected to the line you have now.
