PP - some police officers actually hand out business cards with all their contact details.
MIL is never going to change, unfortunately. Whether her marbles are going or she is just being cunning, she doesn't seem to understand that the 2 of you are staying together, hopefully for another 25 years.

My sympathy is with you and Mr Red. Neither of you deserve this added stress all the while. I wish Mr Red's brother would get more involved but that doesn't seem on the cards from previous posts.

In the mean time, say words in your head that would not get past the swear filter here, love your husband, fuss your animals and keep on posting :) ((((((♥))))))
Totally agree with choux.

Thanks Wolf and Choux, unfortunately the brother is saying he is too busy with his kids and marriage to get involved, as we don't have kids we are expected to manage.
the question was half interesting its the unending mother in law drama i have no interest for i dont see why you dont just leave it for your husband to deal with and if he has passed then i am sorry but if shes calling the police on you then just tell her to crack on with her life and stop getting involved
roadman, the half of you that was drawn to the post should read it and the other half should ignore it.

Would you stand back and let your wife deal with something so stressful on her own.

I nearly lost my husband 3 years back - I am not about to stand by and watch him get so stressed out that it makes him ill again.
he has called or will call ?

If it is a house call, try to keep it so, You are allowed to record and since YOU know, it doesnt have to be given permission

Remind him that the alleger has to show the case and not you refute it. that you are not obliged to assist him in his task

Did you set up a DD? I did not
Can you show that - no I cant, it is a negative but I dont have to do I?

If they ask to complete darn the station ask if you are being arrested and on what grounds.

it is pretty unlikely they wd send a PCSO round to investigate allegations for fraud.

keep detailed notes of any meeting

....

Yes I have been there, on the subject of being accused of making indecent photographs of a neighbours child....( aged one, non speaking)
If she HAS reported you, then it will quickly be seen for what it is - either maliciousness or her losing her capacity.

Once it has been established that there is an innocent explanation - and I imagine this can quite quickly be done - it might be worth making a safeguarding report to Social Services.

If you are assisting hubby, just make sure to keep meticulous contemporaneous notes of everything - together with actual documentary evidence if possible. The problem with these types of cases is that after her death, it may come back to bite you on the bum.

IF hubby is struggling with acting as attorney, he can resign his position and let the brother deal with it. If the brother won't then a court deputy could then be appointed to deal with the day to day stuff.
+excellent advice

I thought the accuser might be manoeuvring to be apptd last attorney
I always understood DD's, Direct Debits, could only be set up by companies and not individuals.
Question Author
Thank you BM - I thought if he resigned from POA then it cancelled out the whole thing and that a new one would be put in place
Question Author
She is accusing me of setting up DD's with companies
Hope this is sorted quickly, more than enough stress for you to deal with
Well if she has capacity (and subject to how the original LPA is set up) she can make a new LPA. If she doesn't have capacity then the Court will appoint a Deputy.

I'd really consider suggesting to hubby that he gets out of being an attorney. At least if an independent professional is appointed, you will not have any backlash. I often tell people to get rid when they end up in a battle with either the donor or the wider family since you can never win such battles and it can only ever cause you stress.
I don’t understand this. If you’re still wondering if she’s reported you what does the bloke who went over to her last week have to do with it? I thought she lived miles away.

cheers BM
so from experience with your enervated husband maybe you should just ignore her calls and let her get on with it because youll be next and how is that fair
excellent advice from BM as ever
There are coppers on the beat still ? Those camouflage uniforms must work well.
