I am helping someone close to Me deal with the aftermath of a death. I managed (just!) To get the deceaseds money from single accounts into the joint account before he died, so from the link the survivor (spouse) will have full use of that money as it doesn't form part of the estate?

Ps we are talking of a sum below 50k and other assets won't come to much more than that. Joint owners if a house (the one where the partnership owns the whole, not each person with discrete amounts)
Yes, that's it.

Thanks Chris. The person hS been worried by relatives saying the account will be frozen. She's worried she won't be sale to buy shopping etc
I had a joint account with my late husband but the Bank just transferred it all into my name. Even kept the same account number. I can't remember if I had to show his death certificate, probably did, but it was 7 years ago

It might be worth checking with Age UK or similar whether there are any complications if one of the couple was in ''care'' before they died and funds were in a joint account.
