Tuned in to watch one of the 'vet' programmes last night - Bondi Vet - this is usually a mixed bag but last night featured an Aussie vet Scott who spent a couple of days doing health checks on incoming dogs for this charity in Wales.

The number of dogs rescued or relinquished from puppy farms was appalling - does anyone know if the animals are sourced only in the UK or does the charity go to the Continent as well ?

I can only applaud the work they do - the staff are amazing, having to cope with mistreated terrified animals and trying to find new homes for them all.

I remember going into Carrefour in Gandia, Spain many years back and they had a pet concession in there.  There was a tiny little puppy in a glass tank and the poor thing looked so depressed.  I do wish all countries would bring tighter laws into place to stop such reprehensible practices.

I was very concerned when I heard that over two days the charity had collected nearly 300 dogs - a mix of puppies and also breeding dogs and bitches - and if that number came solely from the U K, that is truly appalling.

im just sorry I live so far away, I'd willingly take a dog from them.

Are there no dog rescue centres near you, seekerz?

Yes Barry, there are but nothing like the scale of Many Tears - I don't know how much is known about this charity in the UK - I would like to bring it to peoples attention

I've heard of Many Tears...there are so many small, unsung animal rescue charities.

The cat rescue I got Toby from started when the lady who runs it lost her own cat and discovered how many male strays there were...she'd only been active a few months when Toby came to me almost 3 years ago. After building pens in her garden and having her home full of kittens...inspite of acquiring a band of fosterers...she is now looking for large premises. Several hundred cats and kittens are rescued by her helpers every year. Many are dreadfully ill...and get all help required.

My niece is involved in dog rescues and rehoming, mainly from Spain.  She did go to Ukraine last year and brought back refugees and animals. I support Willows Animal Sanctuary - worth having a look at their site.

My rescue is Hector's House Residents on FB.

I know we have rescue centres here in Oz - I support my local RSPCA - currently they have some 40 adult dogs in the kennels, a number of these have been returned post Covid - they are all large which I couldn't cope with, but they don't seem to see large numbers of ex puppy farm animals.

I'm sorry in a way this programme was only shown here, I think Scott was appealing to the public in the UK for support

I see that Bondi Vet episodes are available on YouTube and Apple tv.

I'll take a look at YouTube later.
