Litter ?
9 Answers
Why. Every day I cycle to work along a path that I would love to see as green and peaceful. Then there is the discarded beer can, the crisp packet, ruining it all. How much effort does it take to carry that empty can or flimsy piece of plastic a little bit further to a rubbish bin ? So so many people couldn't give a sh!te about society or their own environment, so they have no bloody right to expect me to care about theirs.
If you don't want it chuck it away, who cares, someone else will clear up afterwards.

He also thinks I`m being a snob because I live in the countryside.......what difference that makes is beyond me

The problem is around our way not even the Council can be bothered to pick up litter in the parks etc. They'll empty the rubbish bin and leave the cans that are lying about. An old microwave oven was thrown into the river from our main bridge in late 2004. It's still there today despite phoning the Council, the Environment Agency etc.
I blame the parents for not having taught today's litter louts some basic manners and society rules.
From the other discussions today I'll bet you you don't come cross a discarded Jihab though !!!!

I have absolutely no truck with these morons who you see on TV and in the press, complaining that they've been fined for dropping a fag end, a chip, an empty crisp packet etc. Their usual rant is "don't they have anything better to do?" To which the glaringly obvious reply is "yes, and they could get on with doing it if they didn't have to follow morons like you, who can't be ar$ed to do their miniscule bit to keep the area tidy and a pleasure to live in." The fines should be trebled; nobody would do it twice, that I am sure of.
We now live in a society where everything is everyone else's fault, never the person committing the crime. It seems that littering is too acceptable by some parts of the community. As a consequence the more major crimes no longer raise an eyebrow anymore. What a sad state of affairs this country has become.
Why not, pick up that litter so the next person who rides or walks along the path will see it all green. I agree we shouldn't have to do it, but if everyone did their bit the place would be a lot cleaner. I must add a lot of litter we see in the hedgerows are from overfilled bins which the wind has carried.
