Britain is a secular society and religion should be practised as a matter of private individual faiths & preferences, not to be regarded as the ultimate prescription in laws, life, the universe & everything for society.
In my opinion, Strict literal interpretation (sanctioning stoning for blasphemy & adultery) of the Old Testament (or Sharia Law, etc), reflects the homophobic, racist, chauvinists attitudes of around 3,000 BD to 700 AD. This is counterproductive in the 21st century.
Phenomena can be scientifically explained, proved & verified, without having to invoke explanations that involve the spiritual world. Invoking the name of God on complex issues (as in the dark ages) can hinder the seeking of explanations & solutions from a scientific & logical standpoint to pressing problems.
It is unethical to seek to ‘cure’ (by upbringing) for homosexuality or lesbianism & would put unfounded blame on the parents.
I believe being heterosexual or homosexuality are natural innate characteristics from birth. Neither of such sexual orientations want to change to the other.
In studies identical twins (identical genes) brought u in different family environment have almost 100% concordance (similarity) in sexual preferences, indicating that nature is the determining factor rather than nurture (upbringing).
Heterosexual male & lesbians have neurotically denser (~twice) & elongated interstitial nucleus of anterior hypothalamus (INAH3) neurons, compared with heterosexual females & gays.
Studies have shown that inhibiting denser elongated male INAH3 in male ferrets has been found to cause changes from typical female preference to male preference behaviours. Likewise if similar area was lesioned in sheep, preference for eves by rams diminishes.
Male INAH3 morphology has been physiologically correlated to higher testosterone levels in the womb environment. There are growing evidence that sexual differences in the brain are determined prenatally (including genetically), like the testosterone levels in the womb, affecting neuro-pathways wiring whilst in gestation.
LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual & transgender) Pride, is analogous to 'Black is Beautiful' movement - espousing human rights for LGBTs & Blacks. Personally (as a heterosexual), however, I can find romance in public between same sex is bit off-putting. But live & let live, each to their own tastes. 'One person's drink is another's poison'.

http://serendip.brynmawr.edu/bb/kinser2/bb/gender9.html reports, "Simon LeVay has studied and compared the brains of heterosexual and homosexual men and heterosexual women. In particular, he has compared the size of the INAH-3 in these brains from cadavers. He found that the largest INAH3 clusters tended to belong to heterosexual men, the smallest to homosexual men; in fact, on average, heterosexual men had clusters twice the size of homosexual men's"
