After selecting an item to buy, I can select Buy It Now or Add to Basket but when I do so on any of them nothing happens.

I am using Windows XP

I’m not saying it’s because you are using XP, but I gave up on that operating system at least 3 years ago.

There are so many issues with XP, such as browsers and anti-virus no longer supporting updates.

If you want a cheap PC upgrade I can highly recommend this refurbished unit from AC Computer Warehouse at £98 for a reasonably speced machine running Windows 10 – you might need to add the extra of a PCI wi-fi card if you want to connect wirelessly.

And I bought this machine to replace one running Windows 7.

The problem is almost certainly with your web browser.  eBay needs a modern browser in order to display properly but most modern browsers won't run under XP.  If you're not going to upgrade your computer, as least switch to using one of the few fairly  browsers which will run properly under XP, such as Opera 36:

Thanks for all your replies....especially Buenchico.

The reason I want to keep Windows XP is that is the only operating system that it operates a photo programme I use called MGI Photo Suite 4.

I tried it on Windows 7 but no joy.

I cannot get an upgrade for MG1 Photo Stuite.

Regardind the E-Bay, I can use it on my Laptop which has Windows .
