4 Card Torn Magic Trick

Hi. I was on the PO cruise and Steve Mulhern performed the 4 card torn magic trick with the audience. All the audience had 4 cards each and we had to tear them in half. We all followed the sequence with the cards we were told etc. Can anyone remember the sequence?

Can you elaborate and explain as much of the trick as you remember please?

Hi it is a very long shot but hoping somebody on the cruise may log in:
Can’t remember exactly but roughly below:
1) 4 cards each, tear them in half and put both piles together
2) take top card place below
3) take 2 cards place below
4) take next 3 top cards and place in middle of pile
5) take top card and put in safe place
6) top 2 cards below take next top card put on floor
7) top 2 cards below take next top card and put on floor
Follow the above sequence until you have one card in your hand

Look at the card in your hand and the one you put in a safe place and they should match.

I've seen Keith Barry do that trick NYE night on RTE, if you could find it on Youtube, I think he has a page, all of the audience tore the cards and he even told the viewers at home to root out a deck and tear them up, it worked for everyone in the audience that night, I couldn't find my deck of cards :( looked fab though

Jonathan Joe,that's not the audience tearing up the cards though, the audience don't throw the cards away, they tear them up, in different sequence and share them with people beside them, then when they put all torn cards together, they have the proper 'queen of hearts' for instance, Penn and tellars, trick there is similar but different

After you have the fourth card removed (usually start with telling the spectators to put three cards in the middle of the packet), then remember that you need to remove a card and have everyone take the top card and set it aside without looking at it (or in their pocket). Then it really doesn't matter what you do as long as you leave the bottom card in place. You can then take one, two or three cards (their choice), put those in the middle. Take the top card and trade with someone. Again, take one, two or three cards and place them in the middle. I usually then take the top card and put it on the bottom, trade the top card again. Then trade the bottom card (which now keeps the original bottom card in place). Finally take the top card, put it on the bottom, take the next card and throw it on the floor. Repeat this sequence until only one card remains, and it will match the card which was removed.
