As discussed when Trump suggested it. It'd be expensive to put a full wall up, and illegals would simply either go around, or under. It isn't cost effective. But if the Republicans want to spend public money on it they can push for it while they are still in power.

 

Problem is there are few good ideas, especially with such a long border, apart from identifying them and sending them back.

You dont need a wall across all of it.  Plus it doesnt have to be bricks and mortar electronic sensors are very useful for this - providing you have someone to arrest them and send them back.
