I only wear socks with my walking trainers or one particular pair of ankle boots, socks make me feel claustrophobic and I take them off as soon as I'm inside. My feet hang out of the bed too, can't bear them under the covers.
I'm a sock person. Not in the summer mind you...and it's not cold enough yet. But definitely in boots in winter. I'm prone to corns etc...so socks cushion my feet. They also keep them warm.
I went through a phase of needing bed socks, but not in the past few years. An under bed electric blanket keeps extremities warm, and soothes joints.
Vagus, I'm exactly the same as you about socks and feet out of bed. Socks are worse than shoes at restricting movement and feel suffocating. I felt the same about stocking when very young and then tights. I haven't worn tights for many decades.
My son obviously inherited the sock thing from me. First thing he does when he has to wear then is come in the door and sling them on the floor! He generally works from home, so socks not needed.
Pasta, I simply hate warm bedrooms or electric blankets! It takes me only a few minutes to warm up under a quilt.
