Most Jews in this country are here because their forebears fled persecution in Europe, predominately from the Russians and the Nazis. They came from all over Europe - Russia, Germany, Holland, etc., and the countries of Eastern Europe. Although Israel is their spiritual home, they are not 'Israelites' as such but the toast at practically every Jewish festival or event is 'Next year in Jerusalem'. The one big difference is whilst Islam's intention is to spread itself worldwide, the Jews do not seek - or want - converts.
