Sitting having a cup of tea,  heard a familiar to me ( but not local) flurry of bird calls. The Ring necked parakeets have  finally arrived in Bartley Green.   Sadly this means we will probably lose our woodpeckers as they are driven out by  the competition but some folk are in for a surprise when the new noisy visitors hit their bird tables

Had to google that bird!  Never seen one!

We are slowly changing into Australia.  The thing I loved most about Oz was the bird noise.  I would be thrilled to see and hear the parakeets here.

They have arrived in Dudley, sadly.

The variety of birds visiting my garden have declined, the birdsong has changed for the worse.

I do like watching them but they will drive away a lot of the native species

Country lover at the rate they are spreading they will get to you  within the next year or so.

Had them for a while in Sheffield,  but they mainly stick to parks and open spaces. Peregrines in London are finding them to be a very 'colourful' meal.

Oh dear melv.  We are almost adjoining a Hawk and 0wl Trust reserve!  Hope they don't come now!

They used to be near me when I lived in Surbiton, somewhere on the Thames I think.  Memory struggling but I think it was possibly the first place they were seen in this country.

Well  they haven't evolved to keep quiet when predators are around so it might be raining green feathers until they learn to stop squarking
