Would It Be Wrong If I Didn't Confront My Aunt For Being Unhygienic While Cleaning Bathrooms?

I live with my mom, and my mom is paying my aunt to clean the bathrooms. I happened to be home today when my aunt came. She forgot her gloved, and I watched her open the toilet lid with her bare hands, and put cleaning products to soak in it, then she would proceed to wipe down the sink. I suppose if she didn't touch the rag on the side she wiped down the sink with then its no big deal, but I told her anyways, I said that at my job (I work for a commercial cleaning company) that I was trained to clean the sink first, and not even touch the toilet until I'm done with the sink. She agreed, but then I heard her do the same thing in another bathroom. I'm afraid to say anything else, because I don't want to her to get mad at me. It doesn't bother me all that much when she does it at my house, because I can just disinfect thing that she touched, but she cleans other people's bathrooms too, and I dont want her spreading germs there.

YES

It's all fine.

Leave her to get on with her job

Also, what should I say when I confront her?

You say you work for a commerial cleaning company - would you not be able to clean the bathrooms (how many) for your mother who might pay you?  This would save you worrying about whether or not to tell on your aunt.  Just a thought.

You've come to no harm so far so your aunt's cleaning must be ok. If you hadn't been at home today  you'd have been none the wiser.   Leave it.  It sounds like a fuss over nothing to me.

I have only ever used gloves to clean a toilet when it was blocked. I am in my eighties and clean my toilets daily no gloves. Spray with toilet cleaner, clean with brush with disposable head then clean the rest of the bathroom. No one in the family has had any illness caused by inadequate toilet cleaning. What germs is she spreading

I would imagine your aunt is older than you and does not appreciate your criticism. It must be tiring going through life wondering who to report next

My aunt cleans them, because she needs the money. Otherwise I'd clean them.

I have a cleaning lady because she's been with us for years. I am perfectly capable of cleaning my own loo, but I wouldn't dream of criticising her methods. She has lots of local gossip too 😉

Just suck it up.

What did you say to her when you 'told her anyways'?

Do not confront her.  You're still healthy aren't you?  I don't use gloves when cleaning the loo either; a good hand wash sorts that out.

Can understand your aunt should carry on cleaning, but, as you feel they are not done properly, you could go over her work when she goes .

We need exposure to germs...it builds our immunity. As long as your aunt isn't handling food, it's not your concern. Stop monitoring what others are doing.
