Tyne Brand.
Back when I were a lad....we had Tyne Brand tinned mince beef and onion, mashed spuds, and baked beans cold, for our dinner. Twas a favourite for us young uns. Anyone tried it back in the day?
Cue, hovis bread music.....

I remember the brand well, tinned fish and meat. Great when we didn't have fridges
Interesting article https:/
Way back in the early 70s I remember trying to make it in a struggling rock band. This mostly entailed living in a remote rented cottage, and being skint.
There was a big ol' cash & carry nearby. Catering tins of baked beans the size of buckets, and trays of Tyne Brand. 24 cans at a time.
I used to knock up huge pies that would last for days. Filled the oven I seem to remember. 😎
That description seems quite palatable. I have never seen it. I had the misfortune to be issued tins of Maconochies Irish stew or Tom Piper's Irish stew along with tinned process peas and potatoes. That was our diet for about 4 days cooked on a primus stove. The weight was colossal.
We reckoned the Met Police had bought a warehouseful of this fare and it was ( Maconochies) military surplus rations from the 1st war. It was extremely greasy and we certainly dug a few latrines ,on our travels through the mountains and forests of North Wales ,after eating it.
