Why Does My Mum Keep Pressuring Me To Befriend Someone I'm Not Comfortable With?

I've never liked a certain person growing up (tbh, they've scared me), but mother will say, "You might need them some day", and when I remind her that when we asked this person for help a while ago and they declined and twisted their face, she'll say to me, "But you're supposed to love everyone. You're a Christian".

Well, Christian or no Christian I still don't want to befriend this person. Do I really have to?

No, you don't. You are an adult and can choose your own friends.

A lot of mums never get their head around the fact that their children grow up and become adults in their own right.  You're a grown woman.  You don't have to do anything you don't want to do.  Perhaps you should tell that to your mum.

Treacle aren't you over 50? It's about time you stood up to your mum otherwise you will end up resentful

Treacle, do you have many friends and a good social life?  If you don't perhaps your mum worries about that.

^I was thinking perhaps your mum knows she's getting older and worries about you being alone.  It's just a thought.

Dont be "a Christian" and blindly follow made up rules of that or any of its mamy sub sects. Go by your owh ethical code. Its the right and proper way.
