If either party in government vote on a ceasefire in the Hamas/Israeli war, how is this implemented??

Both parties have been at loggerheads over this, but the way I see it even if Labour calls for a ceasefire, has Keir Starmer got the power to order one????

If Kier says no more fighting then it's over... no more fighting.

I don't see how our government has any influence on whta's going on.

They should concern themselves with our home affairs.

There isn't going to be a ceasefire when neither side wants one.

Who calls for one or doesn't is all about politics, but it will make no difference to what Israel or Hamas do.

It's about taking a moral position and supporting the notion of a cease fire or not, rather than hoping that it will directly influence the two sides.

You agree with Douglas then Andy?

no where near a ceass fire - - so we dont have to labour over that one. After war-war comes the jaw jaw - nope neither side accepts that inevitable one.

but hey I love the way the self defence forces self defend by flattening a hospital or something and then come back the next day and do it again !

Netanyahu began one broadcase with a quote from 1 Sam - smiting the Amalekhites - (kill, kill then all etc)

and then said - "and three thousand years later, we are doing it some more!" - no signs of a peace party then

did they really spell his name Geroge? I  might have voted for him. Independent certainly - but can he run a city?

( springer cd but didnt stick at it)

"has Keir Starmer got the power to order one????"

Anyone can order one.

I can order the tide to turn. Doesn't mean a thing.

Ceasefires need both sides to want to cease fire and then actually do it. What some mean by a ceasefire is just Israel stops.

"It's about taking a moral position and supporting the notion of a cease fire or not, rather than hoping that it will directly influence the two sides. "

And therefore a complete waste of time

There will never be a ceasefire because even if one is agreed Hamas will ignore it.
