Does anyone else think that the word 'troll' is overused and abused on this sight. Some one is called a troll on almost evey News post. It's very boring. Try to think of an alternative, you troll callers.

Not really - it is only Mods who actually have the power to act on perceived interpretations of Site Rules, which is what this issue is actually about.

Is it worth saying that Mods don't operate on the basis of 'personal prejudice'? Probably not. I keep telling you, you keep ignoring me.

There is really no point in arguing the issue with me, I have explained my position, and what I believe to be the position of my fellow Mods.

If you wish to take it further, i suggest you e-mail the Editor who has the power to actually instruct Mods as to the interpretaion of any Site Rules they wish to select.

I am merely pointing out that these rules leave posters in a grey area and I fail to see how the editor can endorse a suspension or banishment if a ABer unwittingly interprets a rule their way but does not gel with the opinion of those who moderate. I never even knew what a troll was when I first joined this site and looked it up. Nothing like your interpretation in the OED which I have more faith in and abided by its definition.

Let me ammend my response - there is little point in us discussing this, because I have no ability to address the points you have raised, and can only refer you to the Ed, who may be able to offer some further comments on the points you have raised.

you must know rules are argued about. If they are statutory rules then they are argued about in law courts.... ( sort of)

Trolling to my mind has a so far unidentified theme of misleading. Gulliver doesnt mislead. he believes what he says. therefore he is not a troll.

a trolling statement is therefore something like

Everyone knows the union of scotland and england was 1603.

well it isnt - that was the union of crowns. The two kingdoms were united in 1707

these fine principles you speak of, where are they to be found in the New Testament ?

Gulliver's answer aat 08.56 made me laugh.  He is the one who says he lives in such a fantastic place and doesn't like it here yet spends most of his time on here spouting a lot of rubbish for most of his days about stuff he has no control of lol.  He is the one who needs to as he puts it "Get out more and......
