Wonderful Service From The Nhs .. Or Not
Yesterday morning I went for repeat blood tests - the last on three issues were returned as 'abnormal'. This morning at 10am the GP's receptionist called to say the results are back. Wow! Less than 24 hours. That's quick!
Just one snag. If the results were clear, the receptionist would have told me so I know something isn't right but I've got to wait two weeks for a doctor to call me and tell me what's wrong. Mad innit.
Not a question. Just venting frustration.

I've been in agony this week with Cystitis. Pain relief stated to be for this condition. Useless. Had to have a doctor after another night of agony so went on their phone system which is a nightmare but what can you do. Eventually spoke to reception who said a doctor would call me at a certain time that afternoon. No call, waited an hour and got through to them again and they said I was next in the queue. 25 mins later got the call, she isued prescription straight to the chemist and said the meds could be picked up within the next half an hour. My friend went and got them for me. Oh the relief! If you've ever had cystitis you'll know what I mean. I asked her what caused it and said not drinking enough water. Should be a min of 1.5L a day and I was drinking only half that. I've not stopped drinking since, even through the night.
So except for their phone system, I guess they did OK didn't they? Once the Doctor knew she acted quickly.
Retrocop - that really is an awful experience.
We on the other hand are still reeling after visit to vascular specialist on Friday (Mr. J2's legs have been treated for 11 yrs. now, trying to heal wounds fro skin cancer surgery.) Mr. B. came in beaming to say that the latedst Doppler had confirmed that he could operate to block 2 large veins (this will aid blood-flow & healing). Good news. Better to come ..
Maybe he's fed up of us, but he fetched his diary and said "Monday, 20th November, 1.00 p.m. at York is free - I'll do it then." !!!!!!!!!!
Even better, he had seen a crusty wound on OH's head - I was just about to involve the GP - and he agreed with me that it might be another tumour.
"I'll have a word with the dermatologists and maxilio-facial surgeons and get you on their lists - avoid the long referral process." Were delighted to say the least - just like being back in France. 😍
So it can work. These delays are what kills the NHS and patients. It was cruel how they just left my sister to cope with my brother in law for 8 long months.
