Many thanks to all of you for your great answers.   Although both answers to the song question sound ideal I think that I will choose the Lincolnshire Poacher as there is a cheese of that name.    You have all put my mind at rest,  so  thank you again

I thought merlot would be the answer to no.4  almost a french blackbird (6).  no. 18 maybe claret or caymus??
