PC monitor has a blank screen. BTW, I'm not a berk!

Any ideas? When I go to boot up my PC, nothing appears on the CRT monitor. There is power going to both the PC and the monitor, and the power light is lit. All the leads are correctly plugged in. Here's the weird bit. I bought the PC to work, set it up there and it booted up perfectly. When I took it back home thinking everything worked fine, I plugged it all in, tried to boot it up and the monitor was blank again. What could be going on? I'm borrowing a TFT monitor from work to try that at home tonight. Could there be a problem with the amount of juice going from the socket to the monitor?

You may have damaged the Monitor enroute to work. I doubt if its the supply to the screen as it's worked before but everything went wrong after you took it home.Try the monitor you know works and if it all boots fine then you know its a damaged monitor.

It could be your PC has a graphics card, but you are plugging the cable into the graphics socket on the motherboard, which does not work.

At the back of the case, look at the place where the extra "cards" are installed (this will be a series of thin slots).

See if one of those is a graphics card.

The thin slots are shown here on the bottom of the (empty) case.

The place you MAY be plugging it in is shown in the picture to the left of the fan, near all the other sockets.
