In 1982 Thatcher' political future was in serious question, she was facing criticism from her own cabinet and the public in response to her savage government spending cuts, a declining manufacturing industry, and high unemployment all pointed to an early exit for this Tory PM. It began to look like , Thatcher who was not for turning would have to do a U-turn to save her own skin and pump money back into the economy..Then along came the opportunity for The Falklands war ..She grabbed at it. But unfortunately it cost the lives of 644 Argentines ,255 British troops and 3 Falkland Islanders But she saved her own skin and saved the Tory Party.
