Is it true that you can no longer fast forward through the adverts in your ITV recordings?

I thought that thingie was actually spelled/spelt thingy!

Question Author

We've both spelt it wrong.  It's a thingwee

I've got a Humax thingy ma jig and I can forward adverts on that.

Question Author

I can with my Virgin boxes, Barsel. I'm told it is only the BT service that is affected

I have just tried fast forwarding a programme I recorded a few days ago and it worked perfectly.

Question Author

On your BT box, ubasses?  That's good to know

You can still fast-forward through the ads when viewing recorded content but not when streaming:
https://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/2023/11/ee-and-bt-tv-customers-can-no-longer-skip-adverts-on-itv.html

Apparently you cannot ff through ads if your box is in IP mode.

Question Author

Thanks both.

I suspect ITV has paid over a chunk of money.

Hope Virgin doesn't follow suit

Question Author

Buen, reading your link again I am still confused, particularly re this:

From 6th November we will be changing the way customers can use Internet Mode to stream and record ITV channels to prevent advertising breaks being skipped using pause and fast forward options on when watching live streaming or recordings.”

If  the box is in IP mode please remember to wash your hands.

Yes, on our BT Box.
