Rescue Cat
I have just taken in a rescue cat and I would like it to go outdoors for a short period of time. Are there any tips I should have before I introduce the cat outdoors the cat is about three years old at the moment it just uses this litter tray but does not go out because she is quite he is quite new to the house. Any tips would be appreciated.

I'd echo what Buenchico says.
Things to consider are how is she going to get back in? Do you have a flap? Is your garden (and the surrounding area) safe?
When you do let her out, a good idea is to leave some of her used litter by the door so she can find her way back. Don't push the issue - leave the door/flap open and let her work it out in her own time. When she comes back, feed her or give her a treat. It is worth considering not letting her out during busy times if you are near a road.
Can you get her used to a harness in the house then take her outside with a lead and stay with her. Have as long a lead as possible and let it lie on the grass so you can grab or step on it if she runs away. Once she knows how to get in take off the harness. Leaving the cat flap open while she works it out works really well
As Rowan said, you could build a run. Or a catio...that's an enclosed screened in space attached to your house...large enough for her to wander/watch/play.
Like this...cheaper ones can be built

I'd not let her out freely until she's bonded with you and the house.
