Easy peasy but definitely not the same!

I made them once, they were nice, but clumsiness led to leakage & slightly manky tops.

That is they way my mum would have made them.

They'd be a lot more fabulous than any I'd make to be honest.
My mince pies of choice would be the ones OH makes but he's not making them this year so we're taste testing lots of bought ones.

^^ Read that Co-op ones (but can't remember exactly which ones) are top of the list.

I always made mine using a recipe from my late, ex mother-in-law...same for Christmas cake.

Santa loved the mince pies. 😍

Yep, tried them Haz and they are very nice. For a few years on the run Co-op Christmas pud came top of the pops. And we always buy their dried bread sauce packet, it's exceptionally tasty.
I really like most of their own brand stuff to be honest.

Vagus - taste these if you can.  Had them last year, on my Xmas order this year, I think they're the canine's spheroids 😋

Pricey, yes, but it's once a year...

Thanks LiK, if we go near a Tesco will defo give them a whirl x

Never made them, as not overly keen on them. I do have a few at Xmas though. M&S butter pastry are nice, then so are a lot of other shop brands. A big shout out to the Co-op! Their food stuff is nearly always good.

Whenever we go in there, Patsy, we stock up on their small sourdough loaves..cheesy, jalapeño, brown, white..and shove them in the freezer. Have you tried them? And their baguettes are second only to m&s ones.

No, I haven't Vagus. I do like sourdough bread but not OH or son..I might get z couple of small ones for myself! 😀

I mind on someone at work passing out the mincepies his wife had made.

They had a shallow base, a wee bit mincemeat and nothing on top.

I've never seen them like that.

The spillage is what makes home made pies so tasty, proves there is plenty of filling

I'm making some tomorrow.  I've got some home made mincemeat and will make some sweet pastry flavoured with a little orange.

L-I-K Just had a look at your link to the Tesco mince pies, and yes they are pricey, but also did you notice how much sugar is in 1 mince pie? 27.1g!

I know it's once a year, but is it? Are you only going to buy 1 box of them? If you were to eat all 4, that would be 108.4g of sugar.

I'm not on a diet, neither do I have diabetes, but I could easily eat all 4 in the course of a day, but that would be the equivalent of approx 22 teaspoons of sugar I'd be putting in my mouth.

Bah Humbug I hear you shout.
