What is the biggest Motocycle Rear wheel you can get and on which type of motorcycle? I'm thinking seriously in building my own custom motorcycle and I'm looking for a fairly beefy motorcycle wheel for the project.

If you mean width, the new Triumph Rocket III has, apparently, the widest production wheel ever, but they won't be cheap to source. If you want cheap, look for a custom job in biketrader that already has a wide wheel; they may even have had one made specifically.

Standard rears these days are 17" but I think some Harley's come with a 18" but the major problem is getting rubber for the thing......I would recommend getting a carbon fibre 17 "er's if your looking for a good heavy duty set of wheels

Thanks slimjim and sft42. My current design measurement for the overall Rear wheel diameter is 26inch (including the tyre) and I like to keep it that way if I can.
I fully understand different wheels do different jobs. If I can�t get hold of that size wheel would it be imprudent of me to source alternative wheels for the motorbike?  I was thinking of Aeroplane wheels, front tractor wheels, bubble wheels anything with a round profile with a that diameter, it just mean I have to do more work adapting the drive sprocket onto a non standard bike wheel.

Alternative wheels are fairly common on custom jobs. Have you checked BSH for ideas and specialist companies?

Clearance for the swing arm geometery is going to be your big headache here.......I would recommend going for a single sided number.....Try having a chat with your nearest bike breakers which are always good for advice.

I�m no expert in bike dynamics but I am in the process of gathering all the necessary information and research on motorbikes and learning how to weld.

Sft42 thanks for the advice, single side number is exactly part of my bike�s design. Yes, bike breakers yard will be my first port of call for second hand parts.

330, I think. Mostly found on street bikes especially those with very thin front tires and big rear tires. That said, I think Michelin offers good quality street tires compared to the others, you can check if the biggest size they have is suitable for your project.
