your significant other?

Himself has everything he wants (except the cottage on Islay!)

He really dislikes it if I buy him clothes as gifts - although I admit to doing it at times to wind him up.

I was very lucky to get another bottle of his favourite whisky that they stopped producing in 2010.  I managed to get a bottle for his 50th but he put it in his 'pension' fund! Its not worth a great deal but more than we paid for it.

Anyway what have you bought the significant other in your life.

My wonderful wife sorts out all the gifts for extended family and friends, more than forty people, she is a genius!

I collect from shops, and wrap and deliver everything, a small contribution in comparison, so I  buy her a second nice gift as a thank you for all her work.

This year's thank you' is a spa day for herself and a friend.

Her gift is a set of noise cancelling headphones to make flights more bearable.

We don't buy each other presents either but we always go to a nice restaurant on Christmas Day.

I loved reading about a pair of friends who, rather than give each other possibly unwanted gifts, simply bought what they would like for themselves. So, "thank you for the nice lipstick, Ada. Well, thank you for the lovely wellies, Brenda". They were both happy. Perfect, isn't it?

I'd love a spa day Andy lol

Smow what about a massage mat that goes on his office chair?

Massage Matt, now there's a talented guy.

Many years ago we were renovating our house and decided against presents for each other to save money. Instead we bought drainpipes and flooring. We've never bought presents since, but we book a concert or theatre tickets for the spring.

In answer to the OP, no idea.

For my wife, a big fluffy indoor-outdoor cardigan. Tresor perfume, and me in a thong.
Can't go wrong with a thong, or so I thought. Apparently you can.......

Apart from a new home, which would have to be a bungalow (stairs are becoming a challenge) and I can't afford it, it is a pure wool jumper, like last year.  Last year's was red, this is green.  Racking my brain for something else that would be a surprise.

Talking of wool: an elderly lady I visit (94 - late-farmers wife) who still does the books for her sheep-farmer son, she asked him where the cheque was for the fleeces this year.

He had tosay he had dumped them.  They fetch just 50p apiece (well, she said 10/-), so he gave up on them and just shore the sheep himself gradually through the year to minimise the cost.  The fleeces are piled up in the barn - probably a nice winter home for rats and mice.

Seriously - what a horrible waste!  It is wonderful  insulating material for houses and if you buy wool it  costs the earth!

Sorry, got carried away, this is chatterbank  --- but what a horrible mess!
