Has the pop world given up on the race to become a Christmas number one. Not that I am that bothered, but it would make a change from the year after year repeats on radio and TV ads.

I think people who buy chart music are too young to listen to the radio, so radio caters to the over 35s by playing the same old hits

But Barry apart from that, TV always used to focus on what one would be number one 2/3 weeks before Christmas. You don't ever hear now.

There are a few contenders - The Pogues seem to be favourites. Sam Ryder ( who did well for us in Eurovision in 2022) has a catchy song out which seems to be the only new song up there. Wham, thanks to Whamageddon, is in top space, Mariah Carey and Brenda Lee are in there but all old songs so it will be repeats all round!
