Ebay Seller Says "I Do Not Accept Returns"

I bought something from ebay that I have put towards my crafting.  However, after the first use, it simply doesn't work! It's a template I use to cut card/paper, but it doesn't cut out paper/card properly.  When I told the seller this, they said they don't accept returns, but I have a defective purchase.

Does anyone know my rights, please?  I told the seller it isn't fit for purpose and ebay's automated reply was, "We will step in on 28th December if you don't find resolve".  Thank you.

Don't despair. Don't despair. Even sellers who put the phrase, "We do not accept returns" in their shop are still governed by the consumer law, which states that the goods must be, 'fit for purpose'.

You should ask yourself if you've used the tool/item exactly as stated in the instructions and the material you're cutting does not exceed the tool's limits.

If you've reported the problem in a timely manner, then eBay will back your complaint. You are supposed to give the seller time to rectify the problem, even if they want to send you a second item. Wait and see what transpires after Christmas.

Good luck.

If the seller has already responded and confirmed he or she doesnt accept returns, I would get eBay involved now.

I have been lucky with my purchases on EBay.

Only twice in many years, have I had to get EBay involved with a dispute.

Both times they found in my favour, and refunded monies quickly and easily.

Just keep following EBays proceedures for complaints, they are very good at sorting things out.

Thank you guys already xx

Is it a business or a private seller?

Private seller, barry1010.

She can refuse to accept 'buyer remorse' returns but not faulty goods.  eBay is on the case so you will get a refund

I always say I don't accept returns but if there is a problem I give refunds without asking for a return.
