How can I get back to sleep ? I'm buzzing on way too many cups of coffee after having to stay up late to study (playing catch up) and now i'm manic ! I'm so high I could do cartwheels around the house although on reflection , that may not be such a good idea as i'm on the waiting list for physio for a mystery pain in my hip/leg which may or may not be a frozen hip/slipped disc. Sadly I can't put the gibberish ranting down to excess coffee consumption - I always talk crap ! Any tips on how to get sleepy again ? I'll probably still be here , checking in vain for suggestions over the next few hours unless someone can come up with a handy hint. Many thanks x

Sods law will dictate you are ready for sleep when it is time to get up!

Yes , that's about right and the sod will be my grumpy husband in the morning when he moans at me for sitting up too damned late and ignoring him ! Now he knows how I feel when the footy is on. I've been offline for many months and had to go AB cold turkey so i'm making up for lost time now. Damnit why can't I sleep ? I went to bed but I kept hearing this little voice saying AB AB AB so I had to give in. I could go another cup of coffee but on second thoughts , maybe not.
Pack up the coffee for a start off. Try relaxation & complete chill out a few hours before bed. Get into a routine of going to bed at the same day every day regardless of if you `re not tired, then getting up at the same time every day however tired you may still be.

I normally do sleep well beejaybee - it was just this one night in particular. The problem was that I had consumed way too many cups of coffee trying to keep myself awake in order to sit up late to complete my assignments which were due the following day , which was fine - until I finished them and discovered that I was so alert that I could not then wind down again. I had one hell of sore head the following day as a result of not getting to my bed until 4.30 am. Answerbank is a lonely place at that time in the morning as most people with sense are tucked up in their beds. A lesson well learned though to complete my work on time.
Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress, dietary and medical problems. By making small lifestyle changes like having a fixed daily routine, relaxing and eating properly, insomnia can be cured. I found the information at http://tinyurl.com/jfzpz useful for getting sleep.
