New Expat rules mean I can now vote in the UK General Election. Three million British Expatriates can claim the right to vote in British elections again after being disenfranchised if they lived abroad for more than 15 years. Can't wait to register.  Whoopee 🤣🤣🤣 lol .

Will gammons in Europe be allowed to vote in the constituency in the UK where they were last registered?

So what changed? Can you supply a link to the source of your story.

I hope it helps, Gulliver

As far as I know it hasn't been ratified

Gulliver, I am generally on your side in politics, but is it fair that you can vote for someone in a country you don't live in?

Why shouldn't Expats be able to vote in the UK elections.. Many of us served Queen and Country and paid our taxes there. Many of us are still paying taxes in the UK. Also we have Family members in the UK. We might need to return to live there . We should have a say in who Governs the Country.

so nothing has changed if barry is pointing to the right thing. It just says "plans...etc"

A Statutory Instrument was signed on 18th December and those who had been excluded under the fifteen-year rule can register from 16th January.

"is it fair that you can vote for someone in a country you don't live in? "

No. Whether you are an irritating git or a "gammon" (an obnoxious term) or just a person

gulliver: "Many of us served Queen and Country and paid our taxes there." - you in the forces? PMSL!

Cloverjo 18.06" Is it fair to vote for someone in a Country you don't live in" . There are quite a few Peers in the House of Lords who do not live in the UK ,but just pop back into the Country to vote on the laws that govern you .

gulliver at 18.16, do any of the things you mentioned in that post apply to you or were you just saying many expats have done these things.

The HoL is a flawed chamber. It needs to be 100% elected and answerable to the voters. But it is a different issue.

Went to the local Labour International Club yesterday to celebrate this good news.  Everyone is keen to get registered to cast their vote to help their friends and family in the UK get rid of the present Con Crony Club.

Were there any former paratroopers about the place?

Notice gulliver still hasn't answered my question to him at 06.21 yesterday.  Not really holding my breath for one.  Why keep putting all this stuff on if you either wont or cannot debate them.
