Q 9. This is difficult to describe - 4 blocks of letters of the alphabet each block in a corner and each has the letter V missing. The block at the lower left is underlined indicating that that is the one to concentrate on. It also has the letter L missing so I assume that gives the word Christmas.  I'm struggling to make sense of the missing V. The only thing I can think is something like Christmas letters without thee, but unable to find that or anything similar. Would appreciate any help.

Thank you both.  I'm sure the answer requires more than just Noel (which I have as an answer to no. 1) and it still doesn't explain the missing V's.

Thank you Elliemay. I've been stuck on this for ages. That is the best answer I've seen.  Are you able to help with no 40 ? The word Ass with a speech bubble containing the words of a song and an arrow pointing to the bubble.  I've thought of Donkey Serenade or The Donkey Song , but neither have a connection to Christmas.

Thanks everyone.  Thanks elliemay, thanks tuvok.  The Donkey's Song (as opposed to The Donkey Song) sounds right as it is a book about Christmas. If the setter doesn't post the answers, then I'll let you know the answers to Q.'s.   9 and 40 when I get them. Thanks again and a Happy New Year to all.
