Listener Crossword 4796 Delay Repay
Another setter new to the Listener?
We always like to see new gimmicks being used in the clues and we got that here alright, but perhaps like the plot of the film, I found it all very complicated. In fact while I know what the message from the delayed wordplay clues is and its significance, I haven't yet sorted out exactly how all the letters of the message are arrived at, but I have got the end game all resolved.
Thanks Seps for getting the brain working.

I found a few alternative answers, generally under a different gimmick. The gimmicks used will have made clueing difficult, but there were also some very good clues in the mix. There's something a bit non-standard about the final grid (assuming I've got the final step right). Thanks, Seps!
Enjoyed unpicking this one although I assigned delays to the wrong camps on a couple of occasions which made a bit of a mess of the messages for a while. Likewise took a while to parse the extra clue.
Reckon 5dn relies on some essential information.
Fun to re-read about the source material. Like some of the original characters I had no idea what was going on first time round.
I enjoyed finding the delayed letters.
Once I had identified what was delayed I knew the film and the contributor immediately.
Got a bit stuck in the SW quadrant, but reckon I've got the solution.
I'm now moving on from this puzzle, fun though it has been, so this was a nice way to finish!
Thanks, Seps.
