February issue: All are Scottish words, terms or slang and also could also be regional Scottish terms or variations only used in specific geographical areas. Due to difficulty and often many variations of spelling, some of my adjoining letters might be in error.

The I is based on 1a being correct. I have ILKA as possible answer.

I did have CAILLEACH but 12a and 16a make this impossible (if they're right!)

 

12a. Inclined to be lazy (4,4) E?S? ????

I have EASY OASY

 

16a. Strike (6) S?????

I have SCLAFF

 

25a. Walk flat-footed (3) ??P

Many thanks bookbinder. Problem is that if EASY OASY and SCLAFF are correct (which I think they are). Then 8d will have known letter count of ??S????F?

So CLAIDHEAG or CAILLEACH or words relating to CLYACK, which are referenced/mentioned as related to "last sheaf of corn cut at harvest" in some searches - cannot be the answer.

 

Hoping for more input/suggestions because I'm flummoxed.
