Until I was 24,when my Mother died, she "protected" me from the real World. Then I was in limbo till I was 27,when I met my recently(Nov 2023) deceased partner, who"protected" me for a further 49 years.

I now realise(at 76) that this is really the worst thing that they could have done?

This has not prepared me to face the "real" world.

I am getting used to situations, that I have never had to face before.

It is is not very easy, but I am working on it,with the help of(new) friends, and all the great guys here on The AnswerBank.

Thank You,I couldn't have done it without all of you.

PS chuck the soup away and buy one of these for the job. It has an air vent. Useful for beans, peas, stew etc - available in any supermarket https://www.sainsburys.co.uk/gol-ui/product/sistema-microwave-soup-bowl-red-915ml

Good on ya' fella life is a learning curve. As a kid and all five of us Brothers were taught all domestic stuff so seems bit obvious to me... to quote Mum "No poor future silly B***ch! is gonna have one of you lot turning out like my sackless brothers"

Mum being the only female of five. We were taught pretty well and fairly but now it's second nature and just get on with stuff.

Another option is that if he won't take anything, that you make a donation to a charity of his choice in his or his brothers name.

Maydup

That looks a great bowl for soup etc,and so cheap, I shall have to order one.

Thank You.

I use a Pyrex bowl to heat soup in the microwave - it doesn't stain like some plastics can.  Bit of pierced clingfilm over the top does the job

An update, and sicovery for microwaving soup!

After ranging through all the kitchen cupboards,I discovered I had this all the time!

Because it is a saucepan(and I was looking for a bowl)I didn't recognise it as a microwave item!

Amazon.co.uk User Recommendationused it.
