Am I Justified To Be Upset At This Or Am I Oversensitive?
This might sound very petty especially with wars going on in other countries, but I was looking for opinions/advice
I am in the process of selling my house and was stopping with family for a while. I overheard my mum say to my aunt ‘she’s got a bit of Paula (her other sister) in her she dangles things in front of you like a carrot then withdraws, but ask her’. Apparently the comment was about me - my aunt wanted to buy my fridge and some other stuff when I had sold my house - if it even goes through.
I brought the comment up with my mum and asked her why she said it about me - that I ‘dangle things in front of people’ as I’ve never mentioned anything about my house/stuff to anyone. (If anything my mum often brings my stuff up to family and says that I might be selling this and that). Apparently she made that comment because months ago she asked if I was getting rid of my toaster and I said yes but then hadnt brought it round. I was working full time then and said she could pick it up but she didn’t and I’d forgetting about it anyway. Thats why she said she made the comment.
lol school ground stuff but she started shouting at me and making more digs when I told her that the comment was unfair. She said it was her opinion, that she can say what she wants to her sister and that I was making a drama out of nothing. She said I’m sad if I can be offended by a small thing like this. She said she is letting me stay with her (which is true) and that I can p*** off if I do t like it.
I guess I just wanted opinions. I mean none of this is a big deal when there are wars in other countries For Funks Sake but I wanted an unbiased opinion if it is me at fault here I will reflect but at the moment I just feel the comment was very unfair and is sort of putting me down in a negative light to family.
