Please give more details. Was it an adventure series? An educational thing? Was it presented by children? Did it involve sketches and 'how to' features? Was it a historical drama set in colonial times? etc, etc.

it was an adventure type programme, u know, like skippy and lassie but with kids and it was set in current times (circa 1973-4)
it dosnt ring any bells but you might like to check this link ian http://www.memorabletv.com/canadaclassics.htm
Was the programme called "The Forest Rangers"?
There was a programme circa 1960 called the adventures of the terrible ten, about some kids who lived in a fort or something similar, but this was in Australia, find out more at www.imdb.com
You are definitely describing the Forest Rangers. I think they were all orphans, and this Mountie would show up when it was too late and tell them what they *should* have done.
