That's funny!  Points for trying.  :o)))

Ha- that's an even bigger battle. I'm sure I would have known that but as soon as I saw The Alimony my mind kept going back to that and I couldn't think of the right word for a few seconds. I'll never know whether I (or you) would have panicked under pressure on TV

Only if they ran out of Ammo.

Haha. The Battle of The Alimony would have taken longer than 13 days.

It's a good try (but yes, I'll give you that, it's amusing)

Was it by any chance The Alamo?Alimony is a word I see all the time in hollywood! Is there an English equivalent?

"maintenance"

Question Author

08:46, Alimony is an English word.

//

alimony

/ˈalɪməni/

noun

NORTH AMERICAN

financial support that a person is ordered by a court to give to their spouse during separation or following divorce; maintenance.//

Question Author

They speak English in North America. There is no such language as "North American" - that is more a style of dialect.

Silly me forgetting who ttt works for an American bank!!!

Surely that should be 'which Texas battle' .

Question Author

Ask anyone in the US what language they speak and they'll say English. They won't say "North American" - the reference to that in the online dictionary is merely to tell you where the word is more commonly used.

Question Author

21:34 take that up with the question setter on the Chase I  quoted directly.

According to Google it's maintenance order in Brit English.

and the internet gives you the option of English or American English.

there are differences
