I'd say on balance S. E. Asia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and the Indonchinese countries.
Easy to get around, generally very nice people, fascinating cultures, very good food. Good value for money, a lot of English spoken.

I took a year off and travelled around the world, and spent the following time in places:-
6 Months - Asia
2 Months - Austaralia / New Zealand
4 Months - Latin America
Every country we went to had something different to offer. Personal favourites included Mongolia, China, Japan, Easter Island, Argentina, Bolivia.

I have and I would say New Zealand and India for different reasons India is difficult to get around but so worth it and you have to be prepared for delays runny bot and poverty - when I was travelling someone said to me that by the time you leave India you will hate it but once you are back you will love it and I didnt know what he meant until I went I have been back 3 times - it is so vibrant - NZ is easy to travel but just so relaxing even the hiking and outdoor life is relaxing and it is just a beautiful country. Worse place I have been is Gambia and Moscow
