It has also resulted in a number of shops having to close due to lack of trade since the lanes were installed. The work isn't quite finished yet but it doesn't look as "idyllic" as this photo shows, far from it. In my opinion, this is a complete waste and mis-use of public money, for which someone should be accountable. If it had happened in Russia, they'd be dragged through the streets by the Bolsheviks. But hey, a cyclist can ride through - on the pavement, which they do, as the lanes are too slippy.
