Trying to sign into my sons PlayStation account and it's asking me to put a verification code in that comes through to my phone. Only nothing is being sent to my phone! Any ideas why this may be? I checked the number and it's fine.

Is it not going to his phone number?

Is he not able to sign in via his password?

My imediate thoughts were also that the verification code will be sent to the phone number your son will have assigned to his account - presumably not yours.

It's probably an SMS; is your phone a landline that will accept an SMS?

I think your son has changed the phone number to his phone.  He has taken control of his PlayStation

Do it again when he is in the house.

If his phone pings then the above assumption is correct.

PS 2FA is pretty quick in my experience, almost immediate.  O course make sure the phone has reception.

It's definitely set up to my phone, as he's only 10 and doesn't have one!
it lets me sign in using the password but then asks for the 2SV and sends a code to number ending.... which is my number. I don't have the codes anymore when the PS was set up after having my phone stolen a couple of years ago! Really stuck, and every time I try the chat.. says they're too busy right now and to try again later.

Have you tried contacting support through this link?

Did you keep the same number then when you replaced the stolen phone?

change your preferences to receive it via email.  Log onto your sony account online.
