Perhaps not News but News related. Just been on there to get a link and noticed they have something called mail+ that you have to pay for.

Now the DM is useful for giving links that everyone can read (note Gulliver) but the standard of journalism (if you can call it that) is appauling. Who would pay for that?

No link, just go on their site and you can see it.

And honestly who buys a paper these days for "news" - not many I'd say

i agree with ichkeria...

free news isn't "free" it's beholden to advertisers and sponsors. a grim state of affairs. if i thought the daily mail was a good way to learn about the news then i would happily pay for it... fortunately i don't think that because i am not in the habit of hammering nails into my brain ;)

For the OP..the standard of journalism is "appauling"...but can they spell properly?

Probably not, ymf.I get the P&J(Aberdeen)and the Daily Record.I buy the Daily Mail, the Guardian, the National now and again.I would say the P&J was the best regional paper in Scotland,if not the UK.

Show me a newspaper, printed or online, that doesn't carry adverts.

I'm a bit bemused by people who wouldn't even read a particular paper under any circumstances never mind pay to read it.

Are their minds so closed that they can't bear to read someone else's point of view and maybe critique it in the light of their own?

dave, I will read any paper but I won't support some by buying them.

Nowadays the Mail is a Rees-Mogg type tabloid, the Guardian is a Corbyn type broadsheet. Both enjoyable papers, but hardly unbiased.

The Mail is has intentionally promoted fear and apprehension with it's shoddily produced ''stories''. It has an agenda dictated by certain unsavoury elements of global politics. Journalism's epitaph.
No I would never pay them a penny. I wouldn't want it for free. In fact when it was free from Waitrose I shunned it. Not even used on my birds cage floor.

Oh dear - did they not print your letter!

"I'm a bit bemused by people who wouldn't even read a particular paper under any circumstances"

If that was directed at me, I said that I wouldn't read the Daily Mail let alone pay to do so, as I don't particularly care for that type of paper, preferring something a bit "meatier" - nothing to do with their "opinions" which you can always ignore. But I wouldn't not read it "under any circunstances"

Are they still doing this or have they abandoned the idea?  I`m away on holiday and it doesn't appear on the mail online where I am.

I used to buy the Telegraph and Mirror through the week, then on Sundays, I would buy The Sunday Times, The Observer and the Sunday Mirror. Now I don't buy any newspapers because at least half of their content is full page ads. Definitely money for old rope.

Why purchase any newspaper when the know it alls that post in "news" on AB can keep you informed?

AB news is free and totally unbiased 🤣

Yep. They keep you informed via a link to some topic.
