Missing ALT text displays in IE6

My browser (IE6, SP2) doesn't display ALT text when I move the mouse pointer over images. I've checked that the ALT text of images on my web site is OK and it displays correctly on at least 2 other PCs.

If I uncheck Show Pictures, the ALT text displays in the placeholders, so it is available to the browser. Likewise, when the expanded ALT text option is selected, it works.

I'm running McAfee Virus Scan Enterprise 8.0.0, Ad-Aware SE Personal and Adsgone Pop-up Killer 5.3.3. Both have been turned off to compare and still no ALT text.

I've been through Internet Options > Advanced and Control Panel but nothing seems to make any difference. Can anyone help?

Have they just turned off the alt text for that website? What websites are you experiencing it with?

It's all web sites, including my own three. It did work until a few months ago, but I recently noticed it's gone. The PC upstairs shows all the text OK, it must be something that's happened to this machine.

Think I need a detailed comparison of the PC settings but I hoped someone might say "ah, you need to..."
Hmm ok. Not sure then myself.
