The Police
This news story reminds me of Mrs Hymie making the mistake of reporting a near neighbour of committing on-going criminal activity, many years ago.
Unbeknown to her, the person was a close friend of the police. Not long after she started reporting the criminal activity, the police called around and threatened to arrest her for burglaries in the local area.

I was at work at the time when the police called to threaten her; apparently after a short conversation on our doorstep (which included the police officers claiming they had proof she had committed the burglaries), she told the police to burger off (which they did).
If Mrs Hymie is ever called to do jury service, I can tell you that there is no chance whatsoever that she will believe a single word a police officer says.
Just been reminded, by way of a YouTube recommendation, of something similar.
Chap wasn't staying at his house, then got a call from his neighbour to say someone was in there. He gets back, locks have been changed, finds a builder working inside, all his stuff gone, stripped out, someone else turns up claiming ownership. He calls the police who comes around and tells HIM he has to leave ! Some "new owner" has been conned into buying his house from a conman, but it is the real owner they insist has to go.
Bloody useless, the lot of them.
